Eh not exactly. Chakras are places in your body that contain psi. And once you open your chakras you can use your psi. Also chakras really are for ki,chi, and qi. But Ki Chi Qi and Psi are all the same.

Chakras are said to be energy centers of the body. There are also said to be seven primary chakras, and hundreds of secondary ones. Interestingly, the primary chakras correspond to several glands.

As said before, this has not been proven.

Well, I know it hasn't been proven and I personally don't beleive that there are chakras. But for the people who do beleive in chakras, chakras can help them very much with their psionics.
