I've been reading a lot of topics lately that complain that noobs don't read the rules or the stickies that they SHOULD read.

This is just an idea I've been throwing around in my head, but couldn't we set the forum up to where a noob HAS to see and read certain threads before continuing to the actual forum.

I know that if we do this they can just press the button that says "Oh yes I have read this very important document" but didn't actually read it, so I'm going to take this one step further. What if we had a mini questionaire that they need to pass. I know that's kind of extreme and who really wants to take the time to write one? (Well, if it would keep noobs from saying or doing things that are against the rules or make them look stupid I would be willing to write one.)

So rewording my proposal, I think that before entering a forum (if you are a first time visitor) the user should only be allowed to see the stickies and announcements and then after they've read and said they've read and/or passed the questionaire then they can continue onto the rest of the forum.

Ideas?

How would you stop the noobs just scanning the articles for the answers to the questionnaire, but not really reading them? Smile

You walk to their house and bash their knee caps in.

Well if you ask enough questions about the major the rules, then at least they would be fairly with some of the rules. I say that's better than nothing.

like have the questionaire on a separate page and have like 3 questions out of many and rotate them randomly (sorry for the absolutely horrible grammar)

That's a good one too; rotate random questions.
