I can't help it, most times I just plain fall asleep when attempting an OBE. On the rare occasion, I'm not really deep into my sleep, and more or less regain consciousness when the vibrations start... which has happened about 3 times so far. Do you guys have any tips on actually staying awake for this? I don't really have time to try it other than when I'm just going to bed, so being completely awake and doing it doesn't seem to be a viable option. |

I had this same problem when I started out, but I found a few ways around it. The simplest one is to talk to yourself. I know, sounds crazy.
If your falling asleep while your relaxing your body, talk out loud (not to loud though, or people will think your mad), and even better is to talk to your body and walk it through going to sleep (I find this works very well). If your falling asleep while your body is asleep and talking out loud isn’t a viable option, as it would wake up your body, talk to yourself in your head. You can even use this to re-enforce the idea of going OOB to your subconscious (for example; talk to yourself about going OOB). I would write more, but I really don’t have the time right now, so good luck and I hope this made sense. |

Ironically, falling alseep helps me. I'm a pretty light sleeper so I usually wake up just enough to maintain the appropriate state of mind. I'll sorta in an out of sleep until my body is very relaxed....and numb XD. In fact, a few times my body would twitch right as the vibes set in.
But if you need help staying awake I'd suggest either talking to youtself (like what was said above), or think about the science behind going out of body. This way if you do fall asleep, your sub-c may still give your conscience mind a helping hand (kind of like the reality check method for lucid dreaming). Good Luck, ~Echo |
