This is a rather useful technique when attempting OBE's, but it may come in handy for other things. As most techniques, this may work for you, this may not, but it's something you can try.

When in your bed, couch, whatever place you're at, get into a comfortable position. With the lights off, and with complete darkness (or as dark as you can get it), just stare into the darkness. Maybe this tricks your subconscious into thinking your eyes are actually closed or something, but your body should get numb faster. I've tried this method a few times, works like a charm. Try to keep your eyes open, and that really helps with keeping consciousness while waiting for your body to relax, so that you don't fall asleep. This may not work for you folks, but it worked well for me, so try it out sometime.
