Wonderful words from all of you!

But Jake I think you missed one of Thomas Edison.

I have that one, just it's in it's whole form:

I saw that...but I thought maybe it was just a different way of saying it for him.

When people think of something clever (or a good joke) they tend to bring it up in a another way.

"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no telling where you might be swept of to."

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

~ Bilbo Baggins

"The wide world is all about you. You can fence yourself in, but you cannot forever fence it out." ~ Gildor

"Short cuts make long delays." ~ Pippin

"You can trust us to stick to you through thick and thin — to the bitter end. And you can trust us to keep any secret of yours — closer than you keep it yourself. But you cannot trust us to let you face trouble alone, and go off without a word."

We do not die because we have to die; we die because one day, and not so long ago, our consciousness was forced to deem it necessary. Antonin Artaud (1896 - 1948)

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.

Carl Sagan (1934 - 1996)

When I pass, speak freely of my shortcomings and my flaws. Learn from them, for I'll have no ego to injure.

Aaron McGruder, Boondocks, 07-04-04

Death is more universal than life; everyone dies but not everyone lives.

And here's the original Japanese proverb:

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for life."

A brilliant saying that can be applied to many aspects of our modern world. Use it wisely.

Facts have been known to change. It used to be a fact that the Earth was flat and the center of the universe. Now it's a fact that the Earth is round (though not perfectly so), and revolves around the sun. It used to be a fact that heavier objects fell faster. Now it's a fact that they fall at the same rate (excluding air resistance).

Are you sure all of those things really were facts?

As far as I know, everyone used to think the Earth was flat. But they did not have proof. We have proof that the Earth is mostly round.

So a feather drops at the same speed as a, hmm, pencil? I think this law only applies for objects wich have the same shape right?

Shape affects air resistance, so that’s why some objects fall faster than others. If a pencil and feather were dropped in a vacuum, they would fall at the same rate

How do you truly know that the world is round? Have you seen it from far enough away? For all we know, all those astronauts could be lying, or the roundness could be an illusion.

And now for another quote

“a persons only true weakness is there lack of will to work on there weaknesses”
