Questions

Perdurabo asks on June 9, 2004, 4:22am:

Hello! Well, this is my third question, but I promise not to overdo it in the future...
As far as I've understood, there are two ways of making objectively visible psiballs or constructs: accidentally, which happens rarely, and by flaring it, which, if you have the neccesary skill, happens every time you try.
But why is it "so simple" to make it visible just by employing a technique like flaring, while it is such a rare and hard thing to make the actual psiball visible? And, if light means energy and enough-light-to-be-visible means MUCH MORE energy, should I suppose that by flaring the bloody costruct much more energy is employed than by actually CONSTRUCTING it????
Thank you,
-Perdurabo

Peebrain replies on June 9, 2004, 7:38pm:

Alrighty - first thing I'll address is a small technicallity: when you make a psi ball visible, you are flaring it. You can also accidently flare a psi ball. So it's not "accident or flaring", it's "accidental flaring or intentional flaring". But now to the heart of your question...

This is what's going on - when people talk about accidental flaring, they are usually beginners who don't know how to flare intentionally. They usually make a psi ball, like they always do, but since they have a bunch of practice under their belt, they may put some extra oomph into the current one they're making. As a result, it might flare. So, at first, it's usually accidental and it does take focus and practice to learn how to do it intentionally.

After you get the hang of it after a while, you can intentionally flare a psi ball "so simple". So, when you read an article about someone flaring it easily, that's because they already went through that stages of messing around with it, and having a hard time getting it to flare. They practice, they learn, and NOW it comes to them easily. When you read about someone accidentally flaring, they are still in the "earlier stages", and at that time, it is harder.

I don't understand your last question, so I'll stop here.

newbie8900 asks on June 6, 2004, 4:44pm:

Hey, are sheilds visible?
When I create a shell, will I feel it's there or will I just have to trust myself?

Yumper replies on June 8, 2004, 8:36am:

Sheilds can be visible if you flare them. Also sometimes the thicker (marshmellow type) shields can be visible in photographs.

If you create a shell, you should be able to feel it.

Erannadur asks on June 1, 2004, 7:13pm:

Is it possible to create a shield which will repell bugs, mainly mosquetoes and blackflies. I don't know if its possible (hence asking), and if it is possible I would like to know if it would be affective, or if it would be easier to just use bug repellent. In other words, is it possible, and if it is, is it anything more than a novelty?

Rainsong replies on June 1, 2004, 9:05pm:

It's possible. Works well for some people, and not at all for others. On the other hand, bug-repellents don't work for everyone, either... Bug-jackets are good, even if they are a bit stupid-looking.

Red_Devil asks on May 26, 2004, 3:27pm:

Hi
I have his question that just keeps bugging me. I know I don't have any psion around here in my city, so I'm relatively safe, and I don't have to bother much with defending. Smile
But since I started in psionics that I got curious, and I'm not trying to ask any way of attacking but, can anyone devise their own psichic attacks? And also, if it isn't asking much or being nosy Smile, do any of you guys (or girls) know how to attack. And also, I know this is offttopic, but how is "psichic" spelled, "psychic" or "psichic"?

Btw, this site is just great, keep it up. Smile

Rainsong replies on May 26, 2004, 9:16pm:

1) *not answered*
2) Yes.
3) It is "psychic", refering to the soul or mind, personified in Greek myth by the Goddess Psyche. Same root as "psychology".
By contrast, "psi" is the English spelling of the Greek letter at the start of Psyche's name, and was used as a variable, in reference to whatever mechanism allowed for telepathy and pk.

duckies_empath asks on May 22, 2004, 7:26am:

I've looked everywhere but I can't find anything about how to program my shield! I don't understand how to make it filter out certain feelings or really strong ones. If I let outside feelings in, it's like they all come in at once and overwhelm me!

Rainsong replies on May 22, 2004, 8:54pm:

Program a Shield the same way you program any other construct. Read the articles in the Manipulation section, starting with the PsiBall essays. All of them.

psiboy12345 asks on May 20, 2004, 7:17am:

if you throw a psi ball at a chalkboard completely covered in chalk, would it leave a mark?

Peebrain replies on May 21, 2004, 9:44pm:

Heh, what a weird question... the most easiest way to answer that question is: try it and find out! Smile

theenlightened1 asks on May 21, 2004, 12:32pm:

i am a beginner at shielding and would like to know the source of this:

1.) I was trying to make a shield,(don't know if i did)and i started feeling vibrations all around me was this a shield?

2.) During the same shield, my head started to feel like it was pulsing, and i felt light headed and like my head was extremely heavy at the same time

Rainsong replies on May 21, 2004, 9:16pm:

1) Vibrations are not a common sensation for shielding. Only way to tell for sure is to check and see if a shield is there...or better yet, if someone else is willing to check it for you, get a second opinion.

2) Those are standard symptoms of doing too much at once. The symptoms do _not_ indicate that you actually accomplished anything psionically, however.

mr_jiggafresh asks on May 18, 2004, 5:23pm:

hi
i was making psi ball on the bus for maybe a halfhour and after i was finnished and let it go the bottom muscle in my upper arm started to hurt. is that a problem?
ALSO, when i was making that psi ball there were tiny white dots all over my hand and a big white circle in the middle of my hand. is that a trace of a psi ball?

thanks for listning(or reading in this case)

Rainsong replies on May 18, 2004, 9:20pm:

Insufficient data, for both questions. That said,....

1) My first guess would be that it was the result of holding your arm in an awkward position on the bus for half an hour.

2) Could be. Or, more likely, the white stuff was a result of eyestrain. The "aura-vision" people use the eyestrain thing to pretend to see "energy".

TheFlameOfGod asks on May 9, 2004, 2:06pm:

What is the difference between a psi-ball and a ki-ball? The visualization process seems very similar, and the only difference that I have seen in abilities is that the ki-ball (within-reason) can heal. How can I tell the difference if I have made a ki-ball or a psi-ball? Thank you for taking the time. God bless.

Rainsong replies on May 9, 2004, 4:38pm:

A "psi-ball" is made out of "psi"; a "ki-ball" is made out of "ki". (Likewise, "tinfoil-balls" are made out of "tinfoil"; "icecream-balls" are made out of icecream; "lint-balls" are made out of "lint"; "snow-balls" are made out of "snow";....you get the idea.)

If a "ki-ball" can accomplish any verifiable effect in its own right -- be it healing, glowing, or knocking over your kid-sister's glass of orange juice-- it is therefore _also_ a "psi-ball". "Psi" is a fairly broad term, defined more by what it can _do_ rather than what it _is_.

psiballcreator asks on May 6, 2004, 10:16pm:

My name is ben, and I'm having trouble with creating those "psiballs". I am starting to have doubt, but i know that doubt is THE worst enemy that you can have, so i try everyday. I get a "tingling" sensation almost every time, but i'm having trouble with the visualization part of it. Ok, what I do is I try to think of SS4 Goku from dragonball z standing behind me with his hand on my shoulder, then i try to imagine his energy flowing into me. I get sord of a "tingling" feeling in my fingertips, but not in my palms. And I practice with my eyes closed, what am i doing wrong? is it because i don't practice enough? Im really need some help with this... Oh, and i have Tourrettes Syndrome.(It's a psychological disorder) and I was also wanted to know if that would interfere or enhance my mental ability to create psiballs...Thanks, Ben

Rainsong replies on May 6, 2004, 11:18pm:

Tourrettes won't prevent you from creating psiballs.

As for making the psiballs, themselves, try tensing one finger and pointing it at the palm of the other hand. While the finger is tense, pretend it is a laser-pointer and draw on the other palm, from a distance of a couple inches. See if you feel/see/hear anything.

Then, "point" into a spot, with the same tensed finger, and spin the "laser" into a ball.
